NBA Season Tipping Off Christmas Day

Basketball fans and sneakerheads alike can finally rejoice and be extra grateful this Thanksgiving weekend now that news has come down that the NBA Lockout looks to be coming to an end. The NBA players and owners reached a tentative handshake agreement at 3:00am this morning after a long day and night of negotiations. Aside from the proposed 50/50 revenue split, we’ll leave the details to the sports sites, but what we can tell you is that barring any setbacks, a 66 game NBA season will be kicking off Christmas Day with three games (Celtics at Knicks, Heat at Mavericks, Bulls at Lakers), and you can bet that the sneaker brands will be going all out to make up for lost time with some eye-catching Christmas Day colorways! - courtesy of www.sneakernews.com

Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike

Though the NFL season may be in jeopardy next year, fans of Michael Vick may have something to cheer about anyway. Nike has juist announced that the star player has re-signed with the company. There are currently no details of the deal, but his longtime agent, Joel Segal stated that, “Michael is excited to have a long-term and strong relationship with Nike.” With the past behind him, Nike has taken chance on the star athlete stating: “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.” With Nike becoming the official apparel supplier in April 2012 things could get pretty interesting.

Nike Inc. Filing Suit Against Domains for Selling Counterfeits

It is about time someone did something about this. At least once a day we get emails or comments from readers asking us if certain websites are official. Because there are so many, it is hard for even us to keep up. Back in January, Nike officailly filed suit against 66 domains that are using the Nike Brand and selling counterfeit product. The lawsuit does not seek any financial compensation, though the company argues that the domains—using names such as NikeShoesInc.com, NikeObama.com, and Nike-Brand.com—are being used to sell unlicensed or counterfeit products with the company’s trademarks.
If convicted, the sites could be penalized in the range of $1,000 to $100,000 per infraction and have to surrender their domain names to Nike Inc. This suit was only filed after Nike attempted to contact the owners of thedomains and sent them cease-and-desist letters on November 25.
I for one am glad that Nike is getting involved to cut down on bootlegs. I understand that everyone has a hustle, but get your own and stop profiting off of someone else’s work.
