Nike Flight Maestro Plus – Stealth – Neptune Blue

Sneaker News has been filled with information on the upcoming 2012 NBA All-Star sneakers, but did you know that the annual ASG standouts represent a relatively recent phenomenon? Even as recently as two decades ago, we only had a tiny fraction of the amount of energy and attention put into today’s All-Star Game shoes; why do you think a simple all-red sneaker from 1995 has us talking about Scottie Pippen so much each February? It was during that second MJ-less ASG that Pip broke out the infamous red Air Flight Maestro, a model whose essence has been distilled and enhanced with a Max Air cushion in the heel to create the Nike Flight Maestro Plus. This latest drop isn’t an All-Star tribute or even a direct link to Pippen’s NBA career, but rather a trendy take on tumbled nubuck that adds bright blue and green accents to a simple grey/black/white base.

Nike Air Maestro Flight White/Black-Volt

These days, when someone mentions Maestro, you probably think of Levi Maestro. However, in this case, we are talking about the Nike Air Maestro Flight, a sneaker that dates back to Scottie Pippen when he ran the hardwood with Michael Jordan. White leather completely dominates the leather upper, including the white Nike Swoosh. A midnight black tongue strikes away from the white background. while volt accents handle the branding. Release for the retro sneaker should be in the near future in this colorway, as well as the Medium Grey/Solar Red we posted earlier last week.

Nike Air Maestro Flight – Medium Grey – Solar Red

Nike was boasting a murderer's row of talent on their roster back in the 90's, so even with the steady stream of retro releases there are some signature shoes that are still in the vault. The Nike Air Maestro is one of those, the sneakers Scottie Pippen was rocking back in the 1993-1994 season-the same season where he locked down the title of All-Star Game MVP. Well, the OG's aren't coming back yet so we'll settle for the Nike Air Maestro Flight, a hybrid model featuring a Max Air unit in the heel and an extension of the perforated paneling on the side. Take a full look at this mostly grey colorway of the Nike Air Maestro Flight after the jump and let us know if you'll be grabbing a pair from Premier.
