Primitive x Nike SB Lunar Rod ‘Safari’

Paul Rodriguez has been enjoying LunarLon comfort in his signature shoes from Nike Skateboarding for the past few seasons, but this winter the Nike SB Lunar Rod takes things to the next level. With the same dual-layer LunarLon foundation as the LunarGlide+ 4, the shoe mates running comfort with skate shoe durability.

Today we came across a first look at a collaboration Lunar Rod with Paul’s own Primitive. Dipped in Nike’s Safari print, the shoe looks to usher in the new era of P-Rod with a bang. The GR Lunar Rod is set to hit retail in October, so look for this special release to drop around the same time.

Available in limited quantities - Constructed mainly of Levi’s heavyweight black denim, the shoe also features hits of red accents with both company’s artwork seen throughout.

Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Shrimp’

The phrase ‘shrimp on the barbie’ is one thrown around to make reference to anything from ‘Down Under’, so perhaps this upcoming Quickstrike release of the Nike SB Dunk Low has some sort of Australian theme to it? Featuring a basic Black leather upper with a red swoosh, this Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Shrimp’ features a stitched icon of a ‘shrimp’ with a special tongue label of a grill – thus, the ‘shrimp on the barbie’ connection. The phrase itself originated from a series of Australian advertisements in the 80′s, with the signature phrase coming from the actor who would later be remembered as Crocodile Dundee. These SB Dunks also come with a pair of secondary laces that appear to be a light pink tint for further shrimp effect.

Nike SB Dunk High – Teal – Black – Gold

Elsewhere in the Dunk universe, we see what looks to be a cotton twill on the side panels of this new Nike SB Dunk High but we’d bet it’s a bit more rugged than what’s being used on the NSW fare, given the demands placed on its hightop design. That material sees its color replicated on the suede toe and leather Swooshes of an otherwise teal suede design whose yellow midsole has these looking like the highest-contrast SBs we’ve seen previewed for 2012.

Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low “Lights Out” Cancelled

Yup, you read the title of this post right. Much like the beloved television series that the shoe was made to represent the Nike SB Dunk Low “Lights Out” will no longer be releasing. From what we hear it is due to legal issues stemming from the use of Entourage branding but all that means is that if you can get your hands on a pair you will officially be hte man. Don’t expect to see many pairs of these outside of eBay if even there.

Nike SB Dunk Hi Tauntaun

We just came upon this initial photos of the Nike SB Dunk Hi “TaunTaun”. Star War fans are familiar with the name, as it the name of the species from Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back that call the ice planet of Hoth their home. In case you forgot, Luke Skywalker rides one at the beginning of the film.

Thanks to Shawn Baravetto, the species has become the inspiration behind this pair of Dunk SBs, which sport a blue and grey design, blending what seems like corduroy and plush suede. As of now, they are scheduled to drop in November as a quickstrike release.

Made for Skate x Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Roller Derby’

The designer of the first skateboard is one of those mysteries that even the most advanced archaeologist will never solve, a piece of American history born in California to an anonymous creator that could be seen to foreshadow the sport's DIY/indie spirit. Juergen Bluemlein and Daniel Schmid created the Made for Skate exhibition and book back in 2008 as one of the most comprehensive retrospectives on the sport/art of skateboarding along with a super-limited 24-pair run of Blazer High SBs to commemorate the occasion. Three years later, we get our first look at a model inspired by some of the earliest artifacts they unearthed, a Nike SB Dunk Low 'Roller Derby' inspired by the hilariously low-fucntioning boards by that same name first sold back in 1959. You can get a sense for what the creators had in mind when you examine the insoles and other images after the jump; will these go down in Swoosh Skateboarding low like the 'Lucky' and 'Unlucky' pairs that also feature toebox embroidery?

Nike SB Dunk Low – OFF! Bug Spray | Sample on eBay

Back in 2008, Nike SB created an SB Dunk Low colorway that was referred to as the OFF! Bug Spray edition, as the bug-repellent brand's logo colors matched that of the Radiant Green and Deep Orange used on the sample. It seemed to be a fitting proposal as 2008 Nike SB featured some funky inspirations from well-known tangible goods like the 7-11 Big Gulp, Shoe Goo, Newcastle ale, and even Gibson guitars. At quick glance, these OFF! Bug Spray samples may remind you of 2009's Toxic Avengers, which featured a similar dual-green midsole/outsole combo and a red swoosh. It's not often we even get an opportunity to look at these super-rare samples, but we've got another detailed look here thanks to mental_therapy on eBay.

Nike SB September 2011

Coming up later this month is a set of new Swoosh Skateboarding footwear, the highlight of which has gotta be the above pictured Dunk Mid Pro SB that you might as well call the 'Suede Supremes'. They echo the Chicago-style version of the famed Elephant Print Dunk Low SBs that the New York scene leaders released nine years ago this month, but come off considerably more subtle thanks to a heavily tumbled texture in lieu of black Elephant markings.

Nike SB Dunk High “Bleached Denim”

Nike’s SB Dunk High Denim ‘Black’ gets lightened up thanks to the creative use of bleach. A N-SB board member by the name of jwizvr6 did this amazing job of bleaching his pair and they look pretty stunning. From the Black contrast colored stitching to the Black tongue there is still a sense of contrast and left amidst the now distressed feeling denim.

The Nike Dunk SB High – Pro SB Pee Wee Herman (Fallen Heroes Pack) – grey / heather came to the scene with the inspiration of Pee Wee’s Playhouse. The show was concluded in 1991 due to Pee Wee, Paul Rubens, getting arrested for masturbating in an adult movie theater. His career was forever affected and tarnished. The color-way resembles Pee Wee’s famous grey suit with a red bow tie. The insole ironically features Pee Wee sitting all alone in a movie theater. This Nike Dunk SB is part of the Nike SB Fallen Heroes Pack.

KIX INSPIRED BY THE MOVIES PART 2

Nike SB is set to release an upcoming “Horror Pack” which features various sneakers themed after some of Hollywood’s most ghoulish villains. The upcoming Dunk Low for this pack is created in honor of the claw glove totting villain Freddy Kreuger (from the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street). The upper features a stretchy material and comes in Freddy Kreuger’s signature pattern of red and green stripes. These will be released sometime in November. - November 30, 1999
